Assam Public Service Commission Forest Ranger Posts Exam Pattern, Selection Process, Syllabus 2022:
Selection Process & Exam Pattern:
The selection of candidates for recruitment to the post will consist of the following:
(A) Written Examination: 600 Marks (4 Papers)
Subject: English (Essay, Precis writing, etc.) – Type of Examination: Conventional essay type – 100 Marks. Duration – 3 Hrs
Subject: General Knowledge – Type of Examination: OMR, 100, Duration – 2 Hrs
Optional Subject-I – Type of Examination: OMR- 200 Marks, Duration: 2 Hrs
Optional Subject-II – Type of Examination: OMR – 200 Marks, Duration: 2 Hrs.
Candidates have to choose any two of the following optional subjects (One paper for each subject):
1. Agriculture
2. Botany
3. Chemistry
4. Computer Applications/ Computer Science
5. Engineering
(Agricultural/ Chemical/ Civil/ Computer/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical)
6. Environmental Science
7. Forestry
8. Geology
9. Horticulture
10. Mathematics
11. Physics
12. Statistics
13.. Veterinary Science
14. Zoology
(The standard of these subjects shall be that of a Bachelor’s Degree)
Candidates who qualify for the written examination must pass a Walking Test covering a distance of 25 km for Male Candidates and 16 km for Female Candidates within 4 (four) hours on foot followed by a medical examination by the Medical Board and those candidates found fit in the above will be required to produce a health certificate signed by the Medical Board in the form prescribed in Article 49 of the Civil Service Regulation of the corresponding Rules in the supplementary rules testifying the candidate’s sound hearing and general physical fitness for rough outdoor work in the Forest Department and to the fact that he bears on his body the marks of successful vaccination.
Interview: 75 Marks.
The Candidates who pass the Walking test (after qualifying for the written examination) and are found fit in the medical examination will be called for an interview.
